Enrolling a child in kindergarten or school

The procedure for enrolling a foreign child in kindergarten/school includes the following activities:

Consultation on the child's rights to access education - explanation of the regulations and specific requirements for admission of foreigners, including refugees and persons with humanitarian status.

Legal assistance in connection with the preparation and collection of the necessary documents:

• Registration of the foreign child in the application and admission system in a Bulgarian state or municipal kindergarten or school.
• Assistance in obtaining a medical document (health card) from a personal physician or doctor with whom the foreign child is registered.
• Document for completed grade/stage/level of education from the country of origin (if available), translated and legalized. In the absence of such - assistance in submitting an application for determining a preschool group/class for enrollment in a kindergarten/school.

Preparation and submission of an application for admission to a kindergarten/school:

• Preparation of an application form for admission to a kindergarten/school.
• Preparation of the necessary additional documents for admission to a kindergarten/school.
• Submission of the application together with the necessary additional documents to the relevant educational institution - kindergarten or school after the foreign child is classified in the system - on site or electronically.

Procedural representation and communication with institutions:

• Communication with institutions in order to direct foreign parents to a specific kindergarten/school.
• Assistance with a possible interview and determining a suitable group/class for the child, if there are no documents for previous education.

Assistance in meeting additional requirements from the educational institution:

•  Informing about the opportunities for additional training in Bulgarian as a foreign language, psychological support and resource assistance if needed.
• Monitoring the procedure until the final enrollment of the foreign child in the selected kindergarten or school.
