Temporary residence through employment
Temporary residence through employment

Steps for obtaining a long-term residence permit through employment:
1. Employment contract
To apply for a residence permit through employment, you must first find an employer in Bulgaria and sign an employment contract with them. The employer must be registered in Bulgaria and have the right to hire foreign workers.
2. Work permit
After signing the employment contract, your employer must apply for a work permit for a foreign citizen. This process is usually carried out through the Employment Agency, and the permit is only issued if the employer cannot find a suitable candidate for the vacant position among Bulgarian citizens or EU citizens.
3. Obtaining a work visa (if necessary)
You will need to obtain a work visa to enter Bulgaria to start work. Once your employer has received a decision from the immigration authorities, you will need to apply for and obtain a D visa (multiple-entry visa) in your country of origin. Once you have obtained a D visa and entered Bulgaria, you can continue the process of obtaining a residence and work permit in Bulgaria.
Options for obtaining a work and residence permit:
Single residence and work permit (SRWP)
This is a combined permit that allows foreigners to work and live in Bulgaria. Only a secondary education is required to obtain an SRWP. To apply for an SRWP, you must have a D visa or already have another residence permit in the country. The permit is issued for a period of 1 to 3 years, depending on the duration of the employment contract.
EU Blue Card
The EU Blue Card is intended for highly qualified workers and also entitles the holder to work and reside in Bulgaria. To obtain a Blue Card, you must have a higher education degree (obtained from a higher education institution with a minimum of 3 years of study) and an employment contract with a Bulgarian employer.
