C visa for short-term stay
C visa for transit
This visa is issued for transit, i.e. entry and exit through the border of the Republic of Bulgaria for the purpose of traveling to another country.
The transit must take place within 48 hours (2 days).
When travelling by plane, transit is considered to be arrival on one flight from one country and departure on another flight to another country within 2 days. A C visa entitles the holder to one, two or several transits.
C visa for a planned short-term stay
This visa entitles the holder to enter the Republic of Bulgaria once, twice, or multiple times and to stay in the country for a total period of up to 90 days within any 6-month period, with the period starting from the date of first entry.
D visa for long-term stay
A D visa entitles the holder to multiple entries into the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria within its period of validity.
A "D" visa is valid for 6 months and entitles the holder to stay for up to 180 days from the date of entry into the country. It is issued to foreigners who wish to settle permanently or temporarily in the Republic of Bulgaria.
A "D" visa with a validity period of up to 1 year and a right of residence of up to 360 days may be issued to foreigners who are conducting scientific research or are students in training programs lasting up to one academic year, specialists or interns, foreigners seconded by a foreign employer to perform specific tasks related to the control and coordination of the performance of a contract for tourist services, as well as foreigners seconded by a foreign employer to carry out investments certified under the Investment Promotion Act.
